11 Auto tools that all mechanics need

If you are building a mechanical workshop at home and want to improve it, or improve the quality of your work, it is important to make sure you have the best mechanical tools around. We’ve listed some for you. Take note:

1. Hydraulic Jack

Anyone who works in a mechanical workshop knows the importance of having a hydraulic jack around. The jack lifts and lowers, without any effort, any side of a car so that it is possible to work underneath it.

If you want to inspect t underneath your car and do not have a self-propelled lift it, remember that for your safety, the car needs to be supported on jack stands. The use of a creeper  will also make this work much more convenient.

On addition to all this, it is easy to use and requires little physical effort to lift any vehicle off the ground.

When choosing one, consider the lifting capacity, as it differs depending on the type of jack.

3. Work safety goggles

A good pair of safety goggles will help you avoiding eye injuries while working. This type of protection, together with work gloves, are strictly necessary in welding and metal repair work to prevent burns to the eyes and hands.

We recommend that you have several pairs of work safety goggles spread throughout the workshop to use when needed.

 

4. Workshop suit and working boots

A workshop suit and good working boots can also be considered tools, as they are essential to stay clean, safe and injury-free while working.

When choosing the boots, make sure you buy a pair of non-slip, robust and preferably steel toe.

 

 

5. Working gloves

Mechanics need working gloves, not only for safety and cleaning reasons, but also to grab components, accessories and tools for auto workshop well. It  is essential to have some pairs together with the other tools.

Look for gloves designed specifically for working in automobiles.  In addition, they must be resistant and provide protection against aggressive chemicals.

8. Oil vacuum cleaner

A vacuum cleaner is a very useful equipment for draining or vacuuming oils. Some cars do not have the drain system so a vacuum or suction vacuum cleaner is an essential tool to have in your workshop.

Suction is  faster and usually works with most vehicles. However, you should choose the vacuum cleaner that is best suitable for you and the vehicles you usually work with.

You should also consider purchasing  a workshop vacuum cleaner that performs various jobs, including controlling accumulate powders, cleaning car seats, and even helping to recover lost items.

Oil vacuum cleaners can have different sizes, hose lengths and filter.. If your mechanical workshop space is limited, consider a small vacuum cleaner as it will be easier to pack.

9. Pliers

Pliers are self-indispensable tools, either in the context of workshop, or in small home jobs. Always leave them next to sockets set and other tools to have them always when needed.

Given the wide range of pliers available on the market, it is ideal to purchase specific pliers for each function rather than a multifunctional one, as professional use requires greater precision at work.
